Avengers: Endgame’s recently-released poster confirms the appearance of Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau), and Wong (Benedict Wong). The ensemble-one sheet was surprisedly dropped Friday morning by directors Joe and Anthony Russo alongside the movie’s second full trailer. It wasn’t without any controversy, however, after fans noticed that Danai Guriria’s name wasn’t at the top even though Okoye appears in it. Several hours later after the backlash, Marvel Studios re-released the amended poster to the delight of the public.
The culmination of a 22-film arc, Endgame is, for many people, their most-anticipated movie of the year. Set to pick up after Thanos (Josh Brolin) wiped out half of all lifeforms in Avengers: Infinity War, the movie will reunite Earth’s (original) Mightiest Heroes after they splintered off in both Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War. It will also see Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) join the fight against the Mad Titan after sitting out the initial bout. But aside from the heroes prominently featured on the poster, the Avengers will have a few more allies on their side, as confirmed by the latest one-sheet.
Upon closer inspection of the poster, ComicBook.com spotted Paltrow, Favreau and Wong in the billing. This suggests that Tony Stark/Iron Man’s (Robert Downey Jr.) fiancee, Pepper, as well as his right-hand man Happy, may play a sizeable role in Endgame. Meanwhile, Doctor Strange’s (Benedict Cumberbatch) fellow sorcerer, Wong, who fans last saw during their battle against Black Order members Corvus Glaive and Cull Obsidian, will also be back to play a (potentially, significant) role in the film.
Prior to this, it had already been all but confirmed that Paltrow, Favreau and Wong are reprising their respective roles in Endgame. Paltrow previously posted an image hinting at her return in the film and was spotted wearing armor in a leaked photo, giving fans the impression that Pepper will be suiting up in Endgame. Favreau, meanwhile, previously claimed he would appear in Endgame, and Wong shared a photo of himself back in the make-up chair, as he prepared to get into character during the movie’s reshoots late last year.
Aside from said three actors, there are other MCU actors that are expected to appear in Avengers: Endgame, but have not yet been officially confirmed. For example, leaked photos have suggested Loki (Tom Hiddleston) will return, while Paul Bettany (Vision) and Zoe Saldana (Gamora) have both said they will appear in the sequel. It’s also not surprising that Marvel Studios decided to confirm Paltrow, Favreau, and Wong’s return ahead of time. After all, we didn’t actually see them die during Infinity War, so it’s technically not a spoiler to say they avoided being “dusted”. Then again, Shuri and M’Baku also survived The Decimation, but have yet to appear in the marketing for Endgame. Fortunately, with the movie only a month away now, fans won’t have to wait long to learn what fate has in store for them.
