Blake Horstmann is in trouble again, as his Bachelor in Paradise’s co-star Dean Unglert called him out for slut-shaming Caelynn Miller-Keyes. Blake, who is quickly becoming the bad guy on the show, has tried to clear his name by releasing private text messages between himself and Caelynn all over the internet.
Just a few episodes into the Bachelor in Paradise, a dating show that offers former The Bachelor and The Bachelorette alumni who left without love a second chance at it on the beaches of Mexico. Hortsmann is already in a love pentagon with several women on the show. He has reportedly hooked up with Tayshia Adams and Hannah Godwin, and was then called out by Caelynn for sleeping with her just one night after he slept with another contestant, Kristina Shulman. After the episodes have been aired, Hortsmann has received a lot of backlash from fans and says that he’ll have to go into hiding because it’s gotten so bad. So, in an effort to clear his name, he released private text messages between himself and Caelynn on his Instagram story to prove that the fling they had was nothing more than a fling - not the full-on relationship that she says they had. However, Caelynn reacted to the messages by maintaining that they were in a relationship and the messages he chose to release were not an accurate representation of their relationship.
When Blake decided to post the intimate text conversation between himself and Caelynn, he knew there was going to be backlash from fans, but what he didn’t expect was that his co-stars would call him out for it. On Ben Higgins’ Almost Famous podcast, Dean was the guest, and they discussed how they felt about Blake sharing Caelynn’s texts, and he explained that Blake posting those intimate messages were comparable to sharing nude pictures. Dean made his stance clear about what Blake did, saying the following:
Dean called Blake sharing the messages between him and Caelynn, or any girl that he is involved with, while they are “drunk and horny” as “a very obvious form of slut-shaming,” adding, “Now, Caelynn’s parents and her sisters and her friends are going to have to see these messages.” Caelynn herself had responded by saying that she was “mortified” that those drunken text messages were leaked by someone she trusted. Dean believes there could have been “a million ways that Blake could have gone about sharing his side of the story, and the worst way of those million is by sharing those text messages.” Dean revealed that he had tried to stop Blake from posting those text messages, but was unsuccessful.
“Publishing and publicizing private text messages without the consent of the other person, as a public figure, is one of the most disgraceful things I think he could possibly do… You never enter into a text conversation with anyone ever expecting them to screenshot and advertise them.”
It seems that even though Blake is trying everything he can to clear his name, his actions seem to have only made things worse. Regardless of whose side the fans are on, it is still a very big betrayal to reveal private messages between anyone. It seems fans tend to agree with Dean’s point of view, and in Blake’s attempt to be liked by fans again, it seems he has just dug himself deeper into a hole. It remains to be seen how Blake will fix (or worsen) his situation on the show.
