A new year means a new season of The Bachelor has begun! Peter Weber is the pilot stealing America’s hearts - and he offered his first impression rose to contestant Hannah Ann Sluss. The Hollywood native, who had his heart broken by Hannah Brown at the conclusion of the 15th season of The Bachelorette, is ready to find a love that mimics the kind his parents have shared for 31 years.
In the premiere episode, fans got to meet the women vying for Weber’s heart. There was Alexa, the 27-year-old Chicagoan who waxes vaginas for a living. Then there was Eunice, the flight attendant who thought she would stand out from the crowd because of her career… until two other flight attendants arrived at the mansion. Fans also can’t forget Kelley (another Chicagoan) who Weber remembered meeting at an after-party just a month prior. It may have seemed like Kelley was going to be the most loathed in this 24th season, but it was Weber’s stand-out girl, Hannah Ann Sluss, who received the first impression rose and, ultimately, the disdain of her competition and a permanent target on her back.
The 23-year-old from Knoxville, Tennessee is a model who adores Jesus and, subsequently, Weber. Her aggressive approach had her stealing Weber away from conversations with other women for a second and third interaction with him (one of which was a goodnight kiss). Gushing over family values and the instant connection the pair seemed to have, it was a no-brainer when it came time to give out the first impression rose. Sluss was one of the first people to kiss Weber (post-introductions - we’re looking at you Savannah), but she ultimately made the biggest impression on Weber out of the gate.
While Sluss’ approach may have rubbed other contestants the wrong way, it’s important to remember that they are contestants who are trying to win this man’s heart. In order to stand out from the crowd, they have to be a bit bold - especially when that crowd include 30 thirsty women. Stealing Weber away from a conversation was certainly aggressive, but Sluss did technically ask if she could do so and nobody objected.
It seems as though Sluss’s aggression was warranted. If it weren’t hard enough to stand out from 30 other women, things would only get more difficult when Brown showed up. The premiere concluded with Weber looking like he could be slipping back into his old ways. At the conclusion of the first episode, Weber was consoling Brown, the girl who denied him a chance at a relationship (twice). Old habits die hard, but only time will tell. Bachelor Nation is eager to find out whether Weber will go back to Brown or give Sluss a shot at love.
