As is often the case with these types of delays, the developer said that they would like to take more time with Back 4 Blood to make it something that will live up to not only their expectations but fans’ expectations as well.
The tweet reads:
As of this writing, there is no word on when the summer open beta will be available or what platforms will have access to it. It’s also unclear if pre-ordering the game will give players access or not. We’ll just have to hold tight for more information on that front.
The co op shooter was first announced back in 2019. Its first gameplay trailer was shown at the Game Awards 2020 and was confirmed for release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. It immediately grabbed the attention of zombie-slayers and survival horror fans. Chris Ashton, Turtle Rock’s Design Director called it a “return to our [the studio’s] roots.”
Though Back 4 Blood looks eerily similar to another highly popular zombie-killing game from Valve — and even inconspicuously shares the number 4 in its name — it is not related to that franchise and is entirely its own thing. Stay tuned for more on Left 4 Dead 3 (erm) Back 4 Blood later this summer.
