Bruce Wayne is about to deposit some lessons and void his fellow billionaires in Batman Giant #3. Batman will be going head-to-head with his fellow high-class Gotham elites, though he’ll don the cowl to hide his own billionaire profile. Luckily for him, most billionaires don’t seem to have an animal-themed alter ego and happen to be master martial artists like himself … so he might have an advantage.
This battle is topical based on the billionaires so front-and-center of life outside of comic books. Some of today’s hottest debates lie in keeping our nonfictional billionaires accountable, and perhaps Batman is about to do so with his own world. Besides, we’re dying to know what Bruce really thinks of his less justice-focused fellow deep pockets.
Fighting billionaires might not sound as neat to readers as fighting a classic Gotham villain, but – rest assured – those villains will be there as well. In fact, the Joker is at the heart of Batman’s beef with the billionaires, according to DC’s description of the new story. These affluent citizens have recently turned to the Joker for help, which guarantees interaction between the Dark Knight and the Clown Prince. Undoubtedly, the villainous prankster is about to dupe the rich folks who don’t seem to understand his chaos. In the end, Batman is tasked with saving the very billionaires that the title suggests he is battling, which could lead to a complicated showdown.
Here’s the story synopsis via Newsarama.
The story will be 16-pages-long and it is written by Mark Russell and illustrated by Ryan Benjamin and Richard Friend. The quite literally giant, 100-page issue will be released on February 5. It includes two new issues, this billionaire-themed brawl and one in which Two-Face dreams of a better life, as well as several reprints of beloved stories featuring the Court of Owls and Nightwing.
Batman goes after the biggest criminals in Gotham City: Bruce Wayne’s billionaire peers, reads DC’s description of the story. But when these blue-blooded businessmen turn to the Joker for help, they find themselves in over their heads. It’s up to Bruce Wayne to step in and save them…even though he may be just as guilty as the rest.
Undeniably, the new story is bound to have Batman pulled between his role as a hero and as one of the richest men out there.
