Over the past few months, we’ve seen some hints that point to the future of the DC Expanded Universe in most of the marketing for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. From direct references to a larger world with Wonder Woman and Doomsday reveals, to smaller references with newspaper headlines that might hint to Aquaman, DC and Warner Bros. are making an aggressive play for a shared superhero universe.

With the release of Batman v Superman only three months away, Warner Bros. is ramping up marketing for the new superhero movie with clever Easter eggs and hints hidden throughout trailers and TV spots. Now a new “sponsored content” interview clues fans into another superhero that might make an appearance in upcoming DC movies.

In an ‘interview’ with Wired, fictional journalist Ron Troupe talks with Lex Luthor about the release of the billionaire’s new operating system, Lex/OS. The pair exchange quips and information about the new platform at the swanky and very expensive Royal Penthouse Suite at the Park Metropolis Downtown. While a majority of the interview is spent talking about the possible threat of “super” aliens and vigilante “bats,” Luthor name-dropped a mysterious new government agency:

Ron Troupe then asks how to spell the word “Argus,” as Luthor spells out “A.R.G.U.S.,” which might point to the Advanced Research Group United Support. Amanda Waller (Viola Davis), who is believed to be the “she” in the quote, heads A.R.G.U.S., which was formed by corrupt officials in the U.S. Government to deal with major threats. They are also responsible for forming the Suicide Squad, so maybe Jesse Eisenberg might make a cameo appearance in the next DCEU movie after Batman V Superman, if Luthor wants to help A.R.G.U.S.

“Suffice it to say the dangers we’ve been talking about are very real. And they’re not just limited to a couple of alien brawlers able to level tall buildings in a single bout. I’m ready to sit down with whatever task force the government has assembled — in the interest of sharing intelligence and building solutions together. If she… they… Argus… the government, whatever you want to call it, has a real interest in fighting for the future, they ought to work with those of us who are already on the front lines.”

In addition, the interview includes a graphic that shows LexCorps’ corporate rivals, such as Wayne Enterprises and Queen Industries. The latter, of course, is the corporation owned by billionaire Oliver Queen - the secret identity of Green Arrow. It’s worth noting that Green Arrow was a member of A.R.G.U.S. at one time.

Currently, Stephen Amell plays Oliver Queen on Arrow and it’s believed that Warner Bros. and DC have no plans to combine their superhero movies and TV shows together, so name-dropping Queen Industries just brings up more questions about the direction of the DCEU. Does this mean Green Arrow will appear in Batman V Superman or Suicide Squad? If so, will DC re-cast Green Arrow for the big screen? Is this a hint for something in the future, or just a playful reference? We’ll certainly find out when the DCEU starts to unfold.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens on March 25, 2016, which is followed by Suicide Squad on August 5, 2016; Wonder Woman on June 23, 2017; Justice League Part One on November 17, 2017; The Flash on March 23, 2018; Aquaman on July 27, 2018; Shazam on April 5, 2019; Justice League Part Two on June 14, 2019; Cyborg on April 3, 2020; and then Green Lantern Corps. on June 19, 2020.
