Zack Snyder crowns Ben Affleck as the “perfect Batman” in brand new images. Kicking off Warner Bros.’ own superhero franchise via 2013’s Man of Steel, the filmmaker went on to direct Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice three years after which marked the debut of Affleck as the latest version of the Caped Crusader. The two collaborated again last year in 2017’s Justice League, although the theatrical cut of the film was reportedly reshot extensively by Joss Whedon.

At this point, Snyder is no longer creatively involved in the DCEU. His fans continue to campaign for Justice League’s so-called Snyder Cut, but there’s no word from Warner Bros. with regard to the possibility that it could see the light of day. While Affleck is technically still attached to reprise his role as Batman in Matt Reeves’ The Batman standalone, persistent rumors that he wants out of the role swirl. Despite these claims, Snyder says that the actor remains to be the best pick to play the Caped Crusader, at least for him.

Snyder shared a couple of Batman photos of both Affleck and the actor’s stunt double, Richard Cetrone on his official Vero account, and while there’s really nothing really special in the images themselves, it was the filmmaker’s caption that made all the difference. Explaining that he was transferring some old files from his old computer to his new one, Snyder capped off the close-up snap of Affleck in front of the Batmobile by saying that he’s his “perfect Batman.” Check out the photos below:

Admittedly, when it was first announced that Affleck was chosen to play the iconic DC hero, the reaction from the fans was divided. Some pointed out that he doesn’t really give off the particular vibe that Bruce Wayne has especially considering that he’s following the footsteps of Christian Bale whose iteration and own Batman trilogy as a whole was loved. Others, meanwhile, were more open to seeing what he could bring to the table given that he’s quite the capable actor. The conversation around his casting significantly changed, however, after his debut performance in Batman V Superman as many thought that he was one of the best parts of the film. Unfortunately, his future in the DCEU continues to be bleak with no official word regarding his status as Batman - a shame considering that Snyder’s decision to take on an older, hardened version of the character was a great way to differentiate itself from previous iterations of the character.

Regardless of what people thought of Snyder’s DCEU films, one would be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn’t commend the casting choices the filmmaker did for the franchise. And although the futures of Affleck and Henry Cavill in the franchise are uncertain, the DCEU will continue with Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) and perhaps even Ezra Miller (The Flash).
